Minimizing Food Waste

We minimize waste across campus by repurposing unused food in on-campus initiatives to serve other students and the community.

Composting Program

In partnership with UT’s Office of Sustainability, our comport program collects unusable food waste from dining locations, turning it into nutrient-rich soil to fertilize campus gardens and green spaces.

Sustainable Solutions for Dining

Partnering with UT’s Office of Sustainability, Vol Dining continually improves its sustainability efforts through local purchasing, waste reduction, food pantry partnerships, education, and more. We aim to enhance sustainable practices across all dining operations by reducing waste, providing compostable serviceware, and encouraging campus-wide participation in these initiatives.
