Opening Celebration of Landmark Co-branded Chick-fil-A Cumberland

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, celebrated the grand opening of its new full-service Chick-fil-A® on Cumberland Avenue on March 24, which unveiled a unique co-branded Chick-fil-A, generating excitement among both organizations and the Volunteer community. The new Chick-fil-A is located at 1659 Cumberland Avenue, highlighting the infamous Volunteer Orange and nod to the University alongside the iconic Chick-fil-A brand.

The new restaurant will be open for dine-in and carry-out from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The campus community can utilize their Dining Dollars, Flex Plan, or VolCard through the campus Grubhub App. As a full-service location, guests may also utilize the Chick-fil-A® App or order at the register using debit, credit, or cash.

The ribbon cutting ceremony included remarks from Vol Dining leadership and Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operator, Joseph Turner. A proud UT alum, Turner expressed his commitment to exceptional service and community engagement in Knoxville.

“As a UT graduate myself, I understand how valuable it is to have a place to grab a delicious meal, connect with friends, and feel supported,” said Joe Turner, Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator. “Knoxville is home for me, and I look forward to creating a space where Guests, whether students or members of the Knoxville community, can experience true care and make meaningful memories.”

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests enjoyed the “First Bite” alongside Smokey and the Chick-fil-A Cow dressed in its orange jersey.

“We are thrilled to officially open the new Chick-fil-A Cumberland location, which has been two years in the making, collaborating with many partners and stakeholders,” said Amanda Hough, Director of Vol Dining. “This unique location marks an exciting enhancement to the Vol Dining experience, offering fan-favorite menu items and catering services for students, faculty, staff, and the broader Knoxville community.
