UT Dining Plans are convenient, flexible, and loaded with options! You’ll get guaranteed value, whether you eat on campus three times a week, or three times a day – UT has a dining plan to fit your lifestyle.
Dining Plan Information
UT is committed to providing its students with a comprehensive educational experience. The university has determined that on-campus dining has numerous educational, social, and dietary benefits. In recognition of the value of the living-learning experience, UT requires first year freshmen living on campus to participate in either the Tennessee Unlimited 7 or the Tennessee Unlimited 5.
First-year freshmen living on campus are automatically signed up for the Tennessee Unlimited 7 and may choose to change to the Tennessee Unlimited 5.
UT upper class residents and all commuters may purchase any of the UT Dining Plans. If a student chooses a UT Dining Plan they will be exempt from the $300 Flex Plan. Commuters are charged a state sales tax of 9.25% when purchasing a dining plan.
All undergraduate students enrolled in 6 credit hours or more, who do not select a UT Dining Plan, will be automatically enrolled in the $300 Flex Plan.
Understanding Dining Plan Options
The Tennessee Unlimited 7 and the Tennessee Unlimited 5 provide the most freedom for your dining experience. Eat what you want, when you want! This plan allows you to make as many visits as you would like to our All-You-Care-To-Eat residential restaurants, or use three meals per day at Southern Kitchen.
The Tennessee Unlimited 7 comes with $300 Dining Dollars and the Tennessee Unlimited 5 comes with $400 Dining Dollars.
Dining Dollar Plans spend just like cash and can be used at all dining locations on campus.
You can also add Dining Dollars to your account anytime.
All undergraduate students enrolled in 6 credit hours or more who do not select a Dining Plan, will be automatically enrolled in the Flex Plan. The Flex Plan fee of $300 is charged to the student account when the 6 credit hour criteria is met in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Flex Plan is an account on the student’s VolCard.
Flex Dollars can be used at all Vol Dining locations, including convenience stores, dining halls, and national brand restaurants on campus.
- The Flex Plan does not come with any meals
- The Flex Plan does not come with any guest meals
- Meal Equivalency does not apply to the Flex Plan
These three plans give you a specific amount of meals to use per semester at our All-You-Care-To-Eat dining halls and/or the Southern Kitchen.
These plans come with Dining Dollars to use at all Vol Dining locations as well as five free guest meals.
All Dining Plans include five guest meals. You may use these meals to pay for a guest to eat at your All-You-Care-To-Eat dining halls and the Southern Kitchen. You must accompany your guest in to the dining hall and tell the cashier that you wish to use a guest meal from your Meal Plan. You may also use your Guest Meals for yourself.
